Partner dominated AFSUG Regional SAP Conference
I attended the regional SAPhila conference in Caledon last week, you had to look hard to find the customers amongst the partners – I think they out-numbered 2 to 1.
In a well attended session with Hein Laubscher from Vodacom, only around 6-8 customers put the hands. That said, most of the customer heavyweights including: Distell, Pick n Pay, City of Cape Town, Shoprite, Foshini, Engen were in attendance.
Highlights from my perspective was Robert Enslin, President Global Field Operations – who kicked off the plenary session with some good insights into what global customers and SAP’s strategy going forward is. He also said that the executive team refer to HANA as “Hasso’s applicance”.
I also found Alison Lambert’s presentation on customer loyalty (which included details on the Pick n Pay, Smart Shopper program) as providing good perspectives.
The sessions were broken into ERP – Industries, Line of Business & Business Analytics and Technology. The event proved to be a good networking opportunity, old friends were re-acquainted and new faces were introduced to SAP eco-system.
