Is HANA in Its Heyday? SAP’s Sikka, McDermott Sound Off at TechEd
Clarity is no longer what customers were looking for with HANA, yet many expressed the need to still take a “wait and see” approach to deployment.
Asked what, as a technologist, he thought this period in history would be remembered for, SAP CTO Vishal Sikka said in an interview that it will be recalled as the time when “things got miniaturized…and end users got significantly more powerful.”
But, he added, he wished it would be remembered for being a time when technologists finally understood the laws of software and built software for customers that was architecturally resistant to change, truly adaptive, intelligent—timeless, in his parlance.
